Romaro prides itself in only offering forged drivers, fairway woods, utilities, irons, wedges and putters. Every club focuses on great feel and top level performance with all original designs. Unlike most other brands, Romaro has chosen to use different types of steel in their irons and wedges depending on the club’s design. Premium S20C or S25C steel are used in all its models.

Models for the Better Player & the Average Golfer

Romaro has created models that provide optimal performance for their intended target audience by focusing primarily on ease of use and trajectory. Better player woods and irons all focus on stability and control with more penetrating trajectories for faster swingers. Average golfer models include non conforming drivers to maximize launch and distance and to provide ease of use to make the game more enjoyable.

With 5 models of irons, 4 models of wedges, various woods and putters. Romaro is a favorite of golf enthusiasts who recognize design and quality in its robust lineup

460hxslide

Romaro Ray 460HX Drivers

The Romaro Ray 460HX comes in both a Black model (Conforming) and a Gold model (NON Conforming 0.88 Hi COR). Both heads feature flat black IP finish and are distinquished by their badge (black or gold) and paintfill colors.

The Ray 460HX are 460cc models with a high back design and semi deep face.  They are designed for maximum distance performance and ease of use.  Both models share similar design cues and materials with differences in the face thickness and higher spring effect of the Hi COR.

Optimal Carry & Run

The Ray 460HX models use back weighting to control launch and spin.  Because of its placement, the CG is not as low in the Romaro as other typical average golfer models which actually creates a lower spin flight and a stronger trajectory. This results in both optimal carry and run. The nice Ray HX badge you see on each head is in fact the back weight.

Lower spin flight & Strong Trajectory

The 460HX heads are not flat and shallow. But rather deep faced and high back. Again this is a sign that the CG is not simply placed as low as possible. This driver launches strong and this has been a characteristic of all Romaro drivers.

At address the Ray 460HX models set up just right and provide a pleasing mix of confidence without being distracting.  The 460HX Black features a square face angle.  The 460HX Gold model is slightly closed and varies from 0.5 to 1.0* closed.

RaySeries435LXdriver

Romaro Ray 435LX Forged Driver

The Romaro Ray 435LX Forged Driver is a premium forged made with the better players in mind. It comes with a new 435cc head to allow for added control and workability. It has a forged face for superior feel and a black IP finish for a compact look. It’s compact head is aimed to appeal to the better players that want to work the ball and control their trajectory off the tee.

Flatter penetrating trajectory & Workability

It has a square face angle for easy alignment and workability. The 435LX features a wide sweet spot with a thicker face area concentrating towards the center of the face. It will reward well struck shots with added feel and superior distance. The forged titanium cup face produces a soft and consistent feel off multiple areas of the face while the 2 piece body constructions balances the weight of the head, keeping the center of gravity low, but not too low, so you still have that flatter trajectory.

Consistent Ball Striking with Feel, Control & Distance

The overall design is made to produce a flat and penetrating trajectory. The deep and compact design allow for added control throughout the swing. It features a dual inner brace design, which concentrates the energy transfer towards the center of the face. It will reward consistent ball striking with feel, control and distance. It is recommended to be played at 45.25 inches in length. The 435LX brings back a design aimed at feel and control, different from many of the high launch and extra forgiving drivers on the market today.

This is a USGA conforming head and comes with a head cover.  Available in 9 or 10 degrees loft.

Fairway Woods

Romaro Ray Forged Type R Fairway Wood

The Romaro Ray Forged Type R Fairway Wood is made to satisfy the need for more forgiveness without losing any playability for the average players.  Like the original Ray V, it features a forged titanium cup face with a stainless steel body construction.

Maximum Feel & Workability

The Ray Forged Type R features a slightly lower center of gravity than the previous model.  Along with the lower CG, the size has been increased slightly to add a little more room for misses across the face. It still features the variable face thickness design where the thickness of the face is thickest towards the center. This allows well struck shots to be rewarded with excellent feel. The expanded sweet spot produces a smooth energy transfer with very little vibration. The interior of the head features a “Harmonized Fin” which is a special unit that helps absorb vibrations at impact to create a consistent feel. The head also features an Hexagon shape weight (5grams) that is set in the rear of the sole. This helps in keeping the center of gravity low and the MOI deep; adding forgiveness to this popular design.  Available in 15 , 18 or 21 degree lofts.

Romaro Ray Forged is a premium fairway wood designed or superior feel and distance.  It features a forged titanium cup face with a stainless steel body construction.  It is designed for maximum feel and workability.

Feel & Stability

The Ray Forged Fairway Wood features a low center of gravity for an easy high trajectory, while the forged face produces a soft and consistent feel.  It features a wide sweet spot with the thickness becoming wider towards the center. This allows well struck shots to be rewarded with excellent feel.  The expanded sweet spot produces a smooth energy transfer with very little vibration.  The bottom of the club has 4 thick points which acts to stabolize the club head at impact and helps it to flow through various lies.  It has the perfect combination of feel, forgiveness and stability.

Control & Forgiveness

The face angle is square, making it very easy to align and work the ball in both directions.  This is very appealing to those better players seeking to shape their shots while getting the feel and feedback they are looking for.  The head volume comes in at 170cc for 15* head and 150cc for the 18* head.  This is big enough to add forgiveness and small enough to have easy control over the club head through the swing.

Stability & Control

The titanium cup face has a variable thickness, with the thickness being thicker towards the center of the face.  This allow for great feedback on centered hits and better forgiveness off the toe and heel.  It also has a low center of gravity that allow for easy high trajectory.  The shape and design also allows the trajectory to be easily controlled if needed.  The interior of the club also has 4 thick walls towards the sole for added stability.  The thick walls adds mass to the bottom and helps keep the low center of gravity.  They also act as a balancing point for the head and helps keep the head stable through various lies.

The Ray Tour Select comes standard in 14* loft, which is slightly stronger than the original fairway wood. It is made to work best with higher swing speeds.  The face angle is also slightly open to protect against the left side and promote a straight and flat ball flight.  It is 170cc in size which is small enought to be controlled easily and large enough to be forgiving. The Ray Tour Select is recommened to be played at  43 inches.

Romaro Type R Utility

Available in Satin or Black IP finish

DSCF7371

Romaro Type R Utility was made to satisfy the need for more forgiveness without losing any playability for the average players.  Like the original utility club, it features a forged titanium cup face with a stainless steel body construction. This is a very rare thing for fairway woods and utility clubs and makes it very efficient in producing distance. It is designed for maximum feel and workability.   It has a very square face angle to allow for easy set up and shot shaping.

Low center of gravity to help you get the ball up

The Ray Forged Type R Utility features a slightly lower center of gravity than the previous model. Along with the lower CG, the size has been increased slightly to add a little more room for misses across the face. It still features the variable face thickness design where the thickness of the face is thickest towards the center. This allows well struck shots to be rewarded with excellent feel. Romaro Ray Utility

Romaro’s Ray UT is a premium utility wood made with a hot Titanium face and stainless 17-4 body.

Large Sweet Spot

The Ray UT is unique in that it offers a forged Titanium CUP face.  The cup face allows for a larger sweet spot in all directions equaling less distance lost on miss hits. Romaro decided on a cross like sweet spot thicker in the center and thinner towards the outer walls. This type of design creates more rebound and increases ball speeds at impact.  The face is mid height and certainly deep enough for using off the tee without a second thought.

Multi-leveled sole for better impact

Another key aspect of the Ray UT head is the sole.  A utility is used in many situations and many different lies and conditions. A versatile sole is a must and the Ray UT has been well thought out. It features a tapered V like channels on either side of the head and a multi level sole all which reduces friction and contact with the ground. This allows for better impact through a variety of conditions and we all know better impact equals more accurate shots and better distance. I tried the Ray UT here on the lush fairways of Kiminomori and in the deeper rough and it performed admirably with the with the sole working its way through to the ball and allowing the club not only create better impact but square impact. It is very straight and right on target.

Strong & Stable Trajectory

Looking at the Ray UT at address, you can see what I mean by the head looks compact. It is almost a mini elongated pear shape and the top line and face angle perfectly square. The contrasting score lines frame the ball very well and give a very clear target for the ball to strike.  The Ray UT definitely excels off the deck and off the tee and in both cases gets the ball in the air quick but produces a strong and stable trajectory.

The Ray UT is available in 18 21 24 and 27* lofts all with square face angles.

The Ray UT is being offered as head only and features a 0.355 hosel (can take 0.350 or 0.355 tip shafts).

Romaro I-Brid Utility Club

Screen Shot 2013-08-26 at 1.57.14 PM

The Romaro i-Brid Utility Club is a stainless steel construction with a new design that adds confidence and control for any player. It is a smaller utility club, designed to look closer to an iron for those players preferring the iron look. It has a two tone design which gives it an appearance of extra loft at address, making it easier on the eye.

Forgiveness from any lie

The i-Brid has a square face angle, making it very easy to aim and work the ball in both directions on demand. The compact head design at 95cc allows for very easy control of the head. The design also makes it very easy to transition from longer iron to the utility. It has a slightly rounded sole that makes it very forgiving out of any lie. It is made to flow through any lie, especially longer rough. The face is made very durable and made for great energy transfer with consistent feel. The steel forging design of the face makes it very consistent across the entire face. This is very crucial in obtaining a consistent feedback and feel with every shot.

Iron Sets

DSC_1457

There are currently 4 models in Romaro’s lineup.  All 4 models are forged and aimed at the better golfer to low handicap and pro player. Romaro prides itself on its original designs and quality materials and workmanship which really shows in its product line. Here is a short description of each iron.  They are listed from smallest/most advanced to largest/most forgiving.

Romaro Pro Forged Muscle

The Romoro Pro Forged iron is the flagship muscle back and aimed at the better player and low handicapper who wants the ultimate in soft feel and control. Premium forged from S25C then CNC machined and finished in a satin plating, the Pro Forged is clean and compact with very little offset and a straight and thin top blade. The Pro Forged has a slightly killed leading edge and a subtle amount of trailing edge relief. With its thick muscle back, the CG is higher which creates a more penetrating and stable ball with more spin.  More traditional lofts for the player who wants control when attacking the pin.

Romaro Ray H Forged

The Romaro Ray H is what we call a half cavity (hence the H) or some may also refer to it as a Neo Blade. Almost as small and compact as the Pro Forged, the Ray H sets up like a blade but provides cavity back like performance and ease of use.  Like the Pro Forged it is premium forged from S25C, CNC machined and then plated in a durable satin finish.  It is one great looking iron and can easily pass for a blade at address but the half cavity brings the CG down to aid launch. Because of this, the Ray H has 1* stronger lofts for the 6 7 8 9 and PW vs the Pro Forged. The Ray H is for the better player who wants a blade like sized iron and setup with cavity back like forgiveness.

Romaro Ray V Forged

Screen Shot 2013-08-26 at 2.14.46 PM

The Romaro Ray V is a smaller cavity back featuring a V Cut sole (hence the V).  The Ray V is an advanced forged iron made made to perform with technology. Forged from S20C steel, the Ray V features not only an undercut cavity but also a TPU or Thermoplastic Urethane insert behind the face which helps dampen vibrations and control impact sound.

The CG is placed lower thanks to the weight moving into the undercut cavity which features something Romaro calls a Power Frame which is the internally ribbed portion of the undercut cavity. Romaro designed the cavity this way to increase ball speeds and create more distance. With stronger lofts and lots of technology the Ray V will help the improving better golfer hit purer shots and gain more distance.

Romaro CX Forged

The new Romaro CX Forged is the largest head of all the models but player target wise its similar to the Ray V. This premium forged S25C iron features a wide sweet area thanks to a cavity featuring toe heel weighting using a hexagonal design. The iron is CNC machined and finished with a satin plating. The head is slightly rounder and taller than all the other Romaro irons and some may consider it midsized but interestingly the lofts are more traditional and the same as the Ray H.  For those players wanting a pure forged iron but with forgiveness and easy launch as well as overall balanced performance, the CX forged is a great choice.

Wedges

 romaro-wedge-slide

Romaro wedges are soft and they have that ball compressing off the face feel that many of us like. The grinds are versatile and approaches around the green including chipping and opening up the face are done with ease. The W was very good in the bunkers with its slightly wider sole and higher bounce and the VX was no slouch either.

Romaro Alcobaca Forged

The Romaro Ray Alcobaca Forged Wedge is designed for great feel and control.  It has a classic tear drop shape with a black IP finish for a well balanced and sharp look.

The Alcobaca is made of s20c forged steel for an exceptionally soft and consistent feel across the clubface.  It has a CNC milled face to create great reaction on those soft feel shots.  A unique feature to this wedge is the Double Arc Sole.  It is a special grind on the sole that helps the clubhead slide smoothly across any surface. It also makes it very easy to open up the clubface and ensure a stable impact on the high, soft shots around the greens. With the special sole, players can easily expose alot of bounce for the flop shot or soft sand shots.  On normal shots, the grind allows the club to dig through the turf with minimum friction. The classic shape makes it very easy on the eye at address and versatile for any lie.

The Alcobaca is named after a dark, gothic, arc shaped building in Northern Portugal which inspired the design for the grind and dark finish.

Romaro Ray SX Forged

The Romaro Ray SX Forged Wedge is designed for spin and feel.  It features a s20c forged head for a superior soft feel. It has a classic tear drop shape, but it is a “thick blade” aimed at adding stability out of various lies.

The face of the SX Wedge is precision milled, making it very reactive on every shot.  The overall design of the head consists of an extra thin layer over the outside of the head making it slightly thicker than standard wedges. This extra thickness adds stability and balances the weight of the head, making it easier to swing through thicker grass.  The head is made to be easily opened or closed to pull off the short shots that is needed in different situations. The sole is made with a special channel that is made to reduce friction with the ground for a smooth flow of the club head through any lie.  It makes it handy especially in wet lies. Each loft of club is made with a significant amount of bounce to add versatility out of various lies.

Romaro Ray SX I-S Sole Forged

DSCF7378

The I-S Sole a newly designed version of the very popular SX Forged Wedge.  It still features a s20c forged head for a soft feel.  It has a classic tear drop shape, but it is a “thick blade” aimed at adding stability out of various lies.

The new IS sole features a slightly higher bounce and more relief in the toe, heel and leading edge areas.  This has allowed the wedge to become alot more versatile around the greens.  The head is made to be very well balanced with the face open, to put an emphasis in hitting those high, soft landing shots.  It also, features a copper plating layer under the face, allowing the head to produce a very soft feel with reduced vibrations.  It comes standard with a Black IP finish with a dark copper under layer for a luxurious look.

Romaro Ray VX Forged

DSC_1669

The Ray VX is a smaller sized wedge with minimal offset. It is forged from S20C steel and finished in a satin chrome plating. The conforming grooves wedge features a tear drop style face shape and a V channel or triangle cut sole which increases versatility and allows more pure turf interaction for better impact in various conditions. The VX is available in 48/7 50/8 52/8 56/12 and 58/10 lofts and bounces.

Romaro Ray W Forged

P1050297The Ray W model,   is about the same size as the VX and is also a tear drop shaped head. It is forged from S25C and features an nice pearl like white boron plating.  The bottom sole is rather flat but it has a killed leading edge and trailing edge relief and plenty of heel relief. The multi grind sole results in higher bounce which excels in lusher courses or for those who dig too much. The Ray W is available in 52/10 56/12 and 58/11 lofts and bounces. Let’s take a look t the two wedges side by side.
